The mission of the National FFA Organization has been running through my head this week. The mission states “The National FFA Organization is dedicated to making a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education”. One of the best ways this mission can be accomplished is through paying it forward. Recently, my chapter received a $2,250 check from Ag Valley Coop who partnered with Land O'Lakes Foundation's Member Co-op Match Program. Southern Valley FFA is very thankful for this donation.
One may ask, though, is there a way for members of the community to give back to the local FFA Chapter of their choice? Why yes there is. This school year nineteen corporate sponsors are partnering with the Nebraska FFA Foundation for the “I believe in the Future of Ag” Campaign. They have offered up $24,000 in matching funds if local FFA chapters raise $250,000. Paying it forward then continues at the local level. As part of this program, community members can donate to their local FFA Chapter through the Nebraska FFA Foundation. The local chapter will receive 100 percent of the donation and a portion of the $24,000 matching funds. Nebraska FFA Foundation Executive Director, Stacey Agnew stated, “There are many people who love and believe in what agriculture education and FFA do at the state and local level.” The I Believe in the Future of Ag Campaign which will run from now until February 29th. Let me know or another FFA Member if you would like more information about this campaign or visit https://neffafoundationorg.presencehost.net/ibelive.southernvalleyffa.html to make a donation.
